This is another one of the first animals I made. It was such a cute and simple soft toy to make and after making the giraffe, it was quite easy to judge how many rounds to do and when to increase and decrease. It’s such a lovely quick little gift and can be made in any different colours. I used 9mm safety eyes on some of them, or sewn on eyes for the ones that were for younger children. The body is also big enough to add a little rattle ball inside too, which is what I have done a couple of times. The finished item, using DK yarn and a 3mm hook, has a body approx 2 1/2 inches wide and the legs are approx 3 inches long (longer when stretched).
Materials:
- 3mm Crochet Hook
- DK Yarn in desired colours (optional extra yarn to sew on eyes and mouth if not using safety eyes)
- 9mm Safety eyes (optional)
- Rattle ball (optional)
ABBREVIATIONS:
MR- Magic Ring
SC- Single Crochet
INC- Increase
DEC- Decrease
F/O- Fasten Off
CH- Chain
ST- Stitch
SL ST- Slip Stitch
