Bunny star baby lovely FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Bunny Baby Lovey

I saw this idea on Instagram, somebody had made something similar to this bunny baby lovey. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find a pattern for it, So I decided to make my own. It involves quite a bit of sewing so takes a little while to complete, but it is so worth it. A printer friendly version is available to purchase here.

CUT THE MATERIAL SO IT’S AROUND 1 OR 2 INCHES WIDER THAN THE BODY PIECE. (I FOUND IT EASIER TO PLACE THE BODY ONTO THE MATERIAL AND DRAW AROUND IT AN INCH OR 2 WIDER AS SHOWN IN PHOTO BELOW, THEN CUT OUT THE SHAPE)

IF YOU PREFER NOT TO USE MATERIAL, YOU CAN MAKE A SECOND BODY SHAPE AND SEW THE TWO OF THEM TOGETHER.

DRAW AROUND THE BODY ONTO SOME MATERIAL LEAVING APPROX AN INCH GAP AROUND ENTIRE PIECE.

PIN THE MATERIAL TO THE BODY PIECE CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF THE INNER SIDE OF THE BODY. (I DID THIS SO IT WAS INSIDE OUT BUT FEEL FREE TO DO THIS YOUR OWN WAY)

SEW THE MATERIAL AROUND ALL EDGES OF THE BODY (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT TOO LOOSE OR TOO TIGHTLY PULLED). IF YOU ARE SEWING INSIDE OUT, MAKE SURE TO LEAVE A GAP TO TURN IT THE RIGHT WAY ROUND. ONCE YOU HAVE TURNED IT THE RIGHT WAY THEN SEW UP THE GAP.

SEW THE HEAD TO THE TOP OF THE BODY, WHERE THERE IS NO STAR SHAPE ARM. THE FACE OF THE HEAD SHOULD BE FACING THE SIDE OF THE BODY THAT HAS THE MATERIAL ON.

Hi, Welcome to MyBelle Creations. I taught myself to crochet around 5 years ago and really enjoyed it. Over the years I have made many different types of items, my favourites being my ‘geeky’ items such as the Labyrinth movie characters and Dungeons and dragons items. I have enjoyed making and sharing my patterns and finished items. Since my children have gone back to school full time, from being home school during the covid-19 lockdowns, I have decided to start a new way of sharing my patterns and items.

  1. Love this pattern!!! One question. Did you sew the fabric onto the body on a sewing machine, or hand stitched. I have never sewn a crochet item on the machine, wonder if it would sew well? Thank you. Looking forward to making this for grandbaby #6 due in April!!

    1. Hi, I hand stitched it on, I have never sewn them on using a sewing machine. (I’m not the best at using them) I guess if you know what you’re doing on a sewing machine it would work out perfectly fine.
Aww congratulations on your new grandbaby 😊 not long to go now. If you get stuck with the pattern at all let me know and I will try help any way I can. 😊

      1. Thank you for the quick reply. I will hand sew the fabric on. Might ruin the whole thing using the sewing machine. Cant wait to start it. Txs!!
